CommentsThere are very few equestrian properties in the world like The Hacienda La Fragua. This spectacular hacienda features a magnificent one story main house with its own chapel surrounded by exquisite gardens, ponds, and beautiful walking paths that lead to stables, equestrian tracks, a coach house, and a covered swimming pool. Highlighting 29 Stables, and 4 equestrian tracks, the extensive pastures that surround the property have electricity and irrigation. The coach house includes two separate apartments for grooms, an office, a guardhouse and two bathrooms. Two of the equestrian tracks measure 40x70 meters, one measures 40x20 meters. They both have drainage and irrigation. A circular track measures 20 meters in diameter and another covered track measures 65x25 meters and includes an area for social events.
The entrance to the barn is beautifully designed with arches and columns made of cantera and brick. The roof is finished with colorful red tiles. The barn includes 14 horse stalls each measuring 5 x 4 meters, all have beautiful views of the gardens. The stalls are covered with rubber matting and the inside walls of the barn are composed of a smooth brick from San Andres Puebla, which is hygienic and easy to clean. The unusual design and height of the roof supported by wooden beams also has skylights that create a large, light, airy interior. This feature not only affords natural light but also adds warmth to the stables all year round. The large central corridor of the barn contains two giant wash stalls with warm and cold water. The tack room is large enough to store saddles, bridles, and additional tack and there is plenty of room to store food for the horses. Two apartments for the grooms and their families make up the second floor of the barn. From both the apartments, the grooms can see the inside of the barn permitting them to watch the horses day and night. Outside of the barn, there are two bathrooms plus room for storage for hay, jumps and other equipment.
Hacienda La Fragua has been the host of horse shows for more than 200 spectators. The outstanding equestrian jumping ring measures 80 x 40 meters and its base was built to prevent irregularities. Volcanic sand covers the floor of the ring and this is considered ideal for keeping horses in perfect condition. A handsome gazebo made of cantera and a stone floor overlooks Arena 1 and spectators can enjoy watching the horse shows from there. Arena 2 is an outdoor ring that measures 40x 20 meters. It has the same characteristics as Arena 1 and is used as a warm up ring for competition, riding or letting the horses run free. From this Ring, we also have a beautiful view of the gardens. It is a perfect place for competition and exhibitions. In the back of the Ring there is an employee house and an office plus six luxurious bathrooms for guests. There is yet, still another circular Ring on the hacienda that is 20 meters in diameter and is perfect for lunging the horses. This third covered Ring has enough space to build bleachers for seating under the roof. At the end of this Ring there is enough space to set up a VIP lounge. It already has installations for gas, warm and cold water.
A second barn on the hacienda has a stunning entrance. The barn includes stalls, a wash stall with cold and warm water as well as a house for a groom. Outside of the stable is a covered automatic walking machine, which is used to set the exact speed and time for exercising the horses. In the front of the stable is a beautiful grass corral used to let the horses run free. In addition to this corral there are 10 more. They all have a natural drainage system made of rock and tezontle. Around the stables are manicured walking paths to walk or ride horses.
This distinguished property is really an equestrian dream.
Exquisite gardens, picturesque ponds and lush walking paths that lead to the stables, the tracks and the three show rings on the hacienda surround the one story main house.
A covered swimming pool, large terraces and a unique chapel are just part of what makes this hacienda one of a kind.
The main entrance to the house is built from wood and stone and at the end of the walkway up to the building is an impressive, antique Mexican wooden door. Open the door and you are in a breathtaking lobby overlooking an exquisite hand painted mural. Living and dining rooms are handcrafted of stone and wood. The super high ceilings constructed of wood beams and decorative stone alcoves are highlighted by a fabulous Italian iron chandelier. A unique bay window has space for a table and four chairs and overlooks the magnificent garden. The house has twin kitchens featuring incredible Italian floors designed by Pogen-Poll. The kitchen includes a stove with six Viking style burners, two ovens, a grill, and a double stainless steel sink. Moreover, the kitchen has the modern conveniences of a dishwasher, a double sized refrigerator, and a huge pantry.
An elegant wooden staircase leads to the second floor to the Master Bedroom, which has its own fireplace, handsome hardwood floors, a super high beamed ceiling and a spacious walk-in closet. The en-suit bathrooms are designed in floral patterned hand- painted walls with separate shower units, Jacuzzi tubs and twin marble sinks. Also on the second floor are three more bedrooms all finished with wood floors, fireplaces and super high wood beamed ceilings. The upstairs is quaintly accessed by a wooden ladder. The attic can be used as either an extra bedroom or a study. All the rooms have spectacular views of the gardens. The fifth bedroom is located above the master bedroom. It also has wood floors, a walk in closet and an en-suit bathroom with a shower and a marble sink. Above the dining room are another two attics that can be used as studies or bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. These two medium sized bathrooms are finished in a floral pattern with toilets detailed in Italian marble. The main house has two service rooms each with a bathroom for employees. There are two laundry rooms. Outside the main house, there is a covered parking space for one car and space for another six cars for visitors.
A large garden terrace overlooks a river, a waterfall, scenic views of the horse tracks and stables. The main terrace overlooks a weeping willow tree, a gorgeous waterfall and stunning gardens. An imposing antique wrought iron railing surrounds the terrace. In the center is an ornamental stone staircase. The design compliments the beautiful flowers and plants in the surrounding gardens. Alongside the private terrace is the swimming pool with a social area. This is one of the most attractive aspects of the property. At one end of the garden is an impressive stone cross that faces a pear tree. A river crosses the entire property with its own spectacular waterfall and seasonal hot springs. A small bridge crosses the river that leads to a built- in stone breakfast area. The garden has both private and secluded areas as well as large spaces perfect for social events. Part of the garden has a forest with natural volcanic stone and an immense variety of flowers and trees that bloom throughout the year.
The indoor swimming pool is housed in a unique stone building with large windows that overlook the garden. The building also has skylights which provide lots of light. Next to the pool is a social area with a fireplace and kitchen surrounded by a vegetable garden and a small greenhouse.
Around the garden is a guesthouse with its own terrace, living room, dining room, two-bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchenette and three fireplaces. It is decorated similarly to the main house. The guardhouse has two bedrooms, a living room, dining room and a kitchen. Alongside the guardhouse are nine kennels each with its own patio.
